I agree with this premise. Frankly, even when I watch "normal" movies,
the scratches are part of the atmosphere of viewing a film.

I hope you focus your digital distribution on discs that are no longer
available--I remember wanting to buy one of the Cage violin discs a long
time ao (2003?), and being told it was out of production.
I think in the near future the sound quality issue will be moot, as
broadband speed and lossless compression improve. The big question is
when the legitimate distribution chains will get around to supporting
compression format choice more fully for users. It's sad that the
quasi-illegal Russian sites have had this option for years.
I don't agree with you concerning the packaging issue. I've always
found the CD-insert format too limiting and hard on the eyes due to tiny
font sizes. PDF documents accompanying the digital downloads would
provide, in my opinion, higher quality.
As for printing, I don't think it matters. I imagine most of us who buy
digital downloads would be viewing the liner notes on-screen as we
listen, rather than printing them out. Sometimes I also like to have
the computer read such documents to me, out loud, while I am doing other
things, which is another advantage of a digital format.
I appreciate your commitment to quality,
