[silence] unrecorded Cage?

Hello Josh and others,
Future recording projects can be found on my site. Here you can find that
the Black Mountain Piece will be released on Wergo. My only source of
information here is Paul van Emmerik's excellent Cage site
(http://www.xs4all.nl/~cagecomp/). It can be found on the 'recordings' page.
van Emmerik mentions "[Untitled, 1952 (happening)]" as the work being
recorded. I suppose he refers to the Black Mountain Piece. There are only 2
parts available, but reading Fetterman's John Cage's Theatre Pieces one
might compose some kind of reconstruction.
'Opening Dance for Sue Laub'. Assuming this is the same work as 'Opening
Dance', this means it has been recorded by Schleiermacher on MDG.
'Encounter'. In the liner notes for MDG 613 0798-2 Schleiermacher explains:
"In this case, however, the sketches were too fragmentary for the
reconstruction of a piece - if the interpreter was to maintain a pure heart
and a clear conscience."
'0'00" No.2' may be considered recorded (though not available): 'Reunion'
probably is a realization of this composition.
'Quartets I-VIII'. There are 3 original stories in the booklet of the Hat
Hut CD (English, German, French). None of them mentions the version. But
Paul van Emmerik mentions on his site that it is the version for 93
instruments. That leaves the 41 instrument version unrecorded.
I miss 'Variations VIII' in your list. This work has been performed several
times, for instance on September 12, 1992 during the Anarchic Harmony
Festival in Frankfurt, Germany.
And I miss more works, although I haven't checked the list yet. What comes
to mind right now is 'Vis-a-Vis' (composed with Takemitsu). Does anyone know
anything at all about this work? Can't find any information about it. All
literature about Takemitsu doesn't even mention the piece.
There is much more unrecorded stuff, I think. I might put a list of it on my
site one day....
Best wishes from Amsterdam,
André Chaudron
