I am looking for information about WBAI that goes beyond the
instructions on the score. I have a number of questions:
Does anyone info on the performance history of this piece?
Has anyone on this list performed it?
Have radios been used in this piece?
Has it been performed as a stand alone piece? The instructions look
like it has been matched with a number of other Cage compositions.
The description I've received from Don Gillespie is this:
Medium: performer using one to four machines CHECK for an operator of
machines (tape machines [in a performance of Fontana Mix with Solo
for Piano from Concert for Piano and Orchestra [1958], Aria, etc.],
L.P. playbacks with amplifiers and tone controls and amplifier tone
control of the speaker's voice [in a performance of the lectures,
Indeterminacy: New Aspect of Form in Instrumental and Electronic
Music, or Communication]); may also be used to control the amplitude
in the lecture, Where Are We Going? And What Are We Doing?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
John
