[silence] Cage's "calligraphy"

Hi all:

When Feldman joined the Cage circle he was encouraged by Cage to make his
scores as beautiful as possible.  So important was this aspect that Feldman
later recalled:

 

"That was how John taught. John told me I should write a little bit and then
copy it and as I copy I get close to the material, can see what I'm doing
and then I go on and get ideas. It always works. I write for half a day and
copy half the day."

 

Copying music is a great way to learn about a piece (but that's a different
topic).

 

Then there is this:  this is a font that's been around for a while - it
suggests that the importance of Cage's "hand" goes in many directions:
