I agree with Guy. The Oulipo folks were not chance-friendly.
Many of their writings point in this direction.
I don't see that Cage would have much interest in their direction of  
work
because of the rather rigorous attention they placed on the  
mathematical side of writing.
I'll recheck my library just to double check their comments,
but I'm tending toward the side of unimportance on both of their parts.
