My understanding at the time of the concerts, was that the two 80-minute
performances were each half of the entire score at the rate they were
being performed. What I've quoted above doesn't exactly negate that idea,
but it does give a little more primacy to the decision to turn the house
for financial reasons than to the idea of a performance of the complete
score.

Looking forward to hearing this on CD finally.
