Douglas Kahn's _Noise, Water, Meat_ (MIT Press, ISBN 0262611724) is
excellent on this. His approach to Cage (and his relationship to sound
art both pre- and post-_Silence_) is unique, insightful and very
disruptive to the "standard model" of Cagean aesthetics.
