i don't know what format the archives are in, but i could help put
them in mailbox format if the UVA sysadmins didn't want to do this
work. perhaps there are others on this list who could do the same or
help.

i think it's a great opportunity for UVA to host the complete silence
archive. isn't there someone in the music department there who could
maybe help explain the value of these archives to the people who run
the mail servers?
