Thanks all for your reply.
I found here, in Buenos Aires, a unique document fo Marcel Duchamp, who lives 9 months in 1918/1919.
And in the next week I show in my first work as a curator.
www.duchampenbsas.com.ar online in the day of the opening.
Best regards.
Marcelo GUTMAN
Press information below.
I am writing to you to tell you about my first work as a curator (I also participate as an artist and researcher).
"Duchamp en Bs. As." is the exhibition that will start the "Duchamp Year" to commemorate the 90 years of Duchamp´s living period of 9 months in Argentina.
This exhibition includes some of the most important personalities of three generations of Argentinian artists; some of them are: (in alphabetic order) Xil Buffone, Eduardo Costa, Marcel Duchamp, Max Gómez Canle, Guillermo Gregorio , Marcelo Gutman, IMADUBA, David Lamelas , Emiliano López, Emiliano Miliyo, Esteban Pastorino , Gastón Pérsico, Provisorio Permanente, Nicolás Radano y Axel Straschnoy .
All the artists created their works specially for this exhibition.
With reference to Marcel Duchamp, and after a thorough personal research process, a unique document will be presented (for the first time to the press and public) This document has been kept undisclosed in Argentina. It was a gift from Tistán Tzará to a surrealist Argentinian writer, then to a well-known </span\> <span\></span\><span\> </span\>journalist and artist. </span\></p\>
<p\><span lang="ES-AR" style="font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial"\> We are talking about the technical file of<span\> </span\>the chess match between Marcel Duchamp and the <span\> </span\>Argentinian chess player Valentín Fernández Coria, the 19 th of July of 1924 in Paris. We are talking about the technical file of the chess match between Marcel Duchamp and the Argentinian chess player Valentín Fernández Coria, the 19 th of July of 1924 in Paris. This was the only Oympic International Chess Championship that ever existed.
This manuscript, in which are written all the moves that were played in the match, is signed by the artist Marcel Duchamp on the first page and on the opposite side of the document. This material has the signature of the Argentinian player also and will be disclosed along with a certificate that proves its authenticity .
The importance of this document lies in Duchamp´s activity during his stay in Buenos Aires: playing chess almost every night. As he said, here is where he became a "chess maniac"
In the exhibition catalogue, I describe how Duchamp maintained his contact with Argentina after living in this country, even when he wasn´t living in Buenos Aires any more.
The opening will be on Thursday 8 th of November at 7 pm. at the venue of the Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Alsina 673.
Sincerely,
