Check out Stefan Wolpe literature, there you will find exactly what
you quoted. Feldman knew Cage from his teacher's (Wolpe) recitals
(they were held weekly at the Wolpes' home). But he had never spoken
to him until that Webern performance shook them both so much that they
left early.
