Hello,
I am currently studying the score of "59'' 1/2 for a String Player" of John
Cage. I plan to play it on a violin soon.
However, I have some difficulties with the written material, and therefore any
help from people knowing the score would be greatly appreciated.
The first page begins with an indeterminate sound, then a bowed sound on the
fourth string. However, three lines are given, connected with a dotted line.
Does this mean that the player has to choose only one of the three lines
(sounds) or should he be trying to play a composite sound of three lines ?
On page 2, the same problem arises again. This time, an indication is written
below the three lines, but being small and badly reproduced in the Peters score,
it reads something like "Fou(a)(w) (??) actual sound like".
If anyone has played this work before, any advice will be gladly welcomed.
Thank you very much,
Regards
Alexandre Popoff
