To Whom It May Concern,
Hello, I'm a doctoral student at Columbia currently doing research on
Cage. In "Lecture on Nothing," Cage mentions "I got police per-mission
to play sirens" (p. 117 in Silence). I am trying to determine which
performance he is referring to, and where I might find more
information about the incident. It might be "Marriage at the Eiffel
Tower" (1939), or even "The City Wears a Slouch Hat" (1942, CBS Radio
commission), but I can't be sure. If you have any idea where I might
look next, please write to me at jcc2190@columbia.edu.

Cheers, Colby Chamberlain
