ASEUM is an international network of new media art practitioners initiated by SABAW Media Art Kitchen (Philippines) and Multimedia Center KIBLA (Slovenia) that aims to become a catalyst for a cultural, educational, and technological exchange on emerging new media art practices in South East Asia with Europe.
The symposium initiated with the support of Asia-Europe Foundation will consist of a series of workshops, presentations, performances, video screenings, open-studio sessions, round-table discussions, and policy meetings with cultural foundations by both participating organizations, in an effort to advance artistic positions reflecting on the socio-cultural impacts of new technologies and artistic practices that not only respond to scientific or technical developments, but also try to shape the way in which we think about and experience these technologies.
EAR TO EYE FESTIVAL:
ASEUM also takes place alongside an electro audio-video performance festival called EAR TO EYE (E2E), 5 nights of rapid electrofringe experimentation on visuals and sound involving VJing, intermedia performances, and electronic music.
TV LOUNGE:
The ASEUM daily program is divided into two parts: the afternoon program where the conference and workshops will be held and the evening program where the round-table discussions and the performances will take place. During the afternoon program, a Lounge will be set up in the respective university and artist-run space venues in our program.
The TV Lounge presents screenings of video documentations, video works, and AVPs from media centers, institutions, artists and collectives from Europe and Asia. Experience it intimately via the TV Lounge where a large TV and headphones are positioned in selected locations during ASEUM. Here, Audio-Video Presentations from our major speakers as well as from other media institutions, artist-run initiatives, artist collectives throughout Europe and Asia will be available for individual viewing.
The ASEUM TV Lounge offers a unique decompression zone at each location. The TV Lounge is also a meeting point for the visitors and artists. Symposium attendees can find more information on other festivals, artist collectives their projects through viewing the videos while sipping coffee, or chatting with fellow visitors. The Lounge is situated in a comfortable setting to accommodate the attendees where refreshments are served. Multiple monitors or projections will be set up in the Lounge playing the videos that are continuously looped to offer the presentation in seamless fashion. Presentations on various related organizations and partners will also be available via brochures and ot
