everyone reads from the same part (transposed for different  
instruments). 15 time-brackets of single pitches, under a two-octave  
range, for 30 minutes.

this 'unison of differences' idea, appearing in perhaps its most  
austere form in eighty, also occurs in a few of the number pieces from  
1992 and would also have figured prominently in one13, cage's  
incomplete work for solo cello and pre-recorded tape (made from the  
same cello player playing the same sounds).

during this period cage would talk about observing "the same" coca- 
cola bottles as though observing each one for the first time ... and  
said that is what he would like to find with sounds ...

this is a piece for lots of "alto-type" winds and "alto-range"  
strings ... limited ranges and types and instruments.
