Two questions which, if I had read everything about Cage, I probably wouldn't need to ask.
(1) Has anyone published anything about Xenia's life after splitting up with JC? In the books I've read, she seems to pass out of existence when they separate. On the internet I can find just a few photos by Edward Weston, and a few references to sales of her works (with no illustrations). These, together with what's on the "Chess Music" DVD on Mode, is all I know. Surely there must be more than that?
(2) Has anyone checked up to ascertain if the explanation of the high and low sounds heard by Cage in the anechoic chamber was in fact accurate? I'm not casting doubt on Cage's story; but he might have been misinformed, or he might have remembered the explanation inaccurately. I should say that I have no knowledge of the physiology of hearing; it's just that the anecdote seems always to be quoted without any sign that the matter has been pursued.
