[silence] Cage's Extramusical Pursuits; Request for Advice

It's true that Kathan Brown has documented Cage's work in visual art very well, but no one (to my knowledge) has really considered his visual work from the vantage point of art history or serious art criticism. The same applies to his substantial work in theater. These are very important topics crying out for scholarly treatment.

Best,
Rob

If I'm remembering correctly, Kathan Brown's book gives
quite a bit of
detail about how Cage made the prints he did at Crown Point Press.

Hello everyone,

My name is Sarah Stanton and I am an Honours musicology student at the
University of Western Australia. I am currently investigating the
issue of Cage's extramusical interests and the manner in and extent to
which they influenced the formation of his musical ideas. I would
particularly like to focus on his other creative pursuits, although I
am still exploring the boundaries of the topic. My reading thus far
has not uncovered any in-depth research on this issue, one which I
believe is crucial to a fuller understanding of Cage, his mindset and
his working practices. I believe I have already contacted some of the
subscribers to this mailing list directly; however, any further advice
anyone can offer me regarding the undertaking of this research would
be greatly appreciated. I would also welcome any personal insights
regarding the topic which anyone may have.

Many thanks and kind regards,
Sarah
