TROPLIST: Nasco tropicalis infertile

Hi Christof-
We haven't gotten Nasco trops for a couple of years, but have had
good experiences with them prior to that. The two things I'd also
consider are whether there is a strain-compatibility issue (what is
the origin of your non-Nasco trops?) and whether any endocrine
disruption has happened (did the Nasco testes look multilobate or
have any very large cells, i.e. hermaphroditic?). We think we've
seen this in our home-bred trops from time to time, most likely from
endocrine disruptors leaching from plastic. Strain compatibility is
going be a worry if your stocks or their immediate forbears were
wild-caught (esp if the stocks haven't been karyotyped).
best wishes
Lyle
