TROPLIST: recirculating system flow rate?

Hi all,
We've been using recirculating systems from AHAB and Aquaneering for a
couple years and have always operated on the assumption that the flow
rate through the tanks (1.5, 3, and 10 liter tanks) should be set to a
level at which the water just barely forms a stream for trops from
froglet stage to adult. We set it to a drip for tadpoles. This means
we have to clean the tanks pretty frequently as the flow rate is too
slow to really take advantage of the 'self-cleaning' aspect of the
tanks. We haven't done a rigorous evaluation of frog health with
varying flow rates and before we do, we wanted to see what other
people have found. Has anyone tried running tanks at faster rates for
long periods? Does it seem to put stress on the frogs?
Kurt
